Reference Functional Location (FL) | SAP PM

A reference functional location in SAP is a tool that helps in entering and managing functional locations and also to create and manage several functional locations of the same kind in the system. To begin working on the reference functional location, one should have a clear understanding of the SAP PM Master Data structure. The master record of a reference functional location contains entries that are valid only for the particular functional locations assigned to it.

In order to represent several similar clarification plants in the system as functional locations, a user has to first create a functional location that contains all the data applying to all the clarification plants and then create the master record for the individual clarification plants, referring to the reference functional location.
